Buying a wheelchair van

What kinds of wheelchair accessible vehicles does The Mobility Van Store sell?

The Mobility Van Store sells new and used wheelchair accessible vehicles, from minivans to full-size vans, at its showroom in Lakeland, Florida. We are an authorized BraunAbility and VMI dealer, and we can special order a vehicle if the right one isn’t on the lot.

Are you an authorized BraunAbility and VMI dealer?

Yes. The Mobility Van Store is an authorized dealer for both BraunAbility and VMI, two of the most widely known wheelchair van conversion brands. That lets you compare both side by side in one Central Florida showroom.

How much does a wheelchair accessible van cost in Florida?

Most wheelchair accessible vans in Florida cost roughly $30,000 to more than $70,000. Price depends on the make, model, model year, mileage, and the type of conversion (side-entry or rear-entry, manual or power ramp). Used vans sit at the lower end of that range, and new conversions at the higher end.

Should I choose a side-entry or rear-entry wheelchair van?

Side-entry vans usually suit wheelchair users who want to ride up front or drive, while rear-entry vans suit passengers and tight parking situations.

  • Side-entry: lets the wheelchair user sit in the front row or drive, and works well for curbside loading. It needs room beside the van to deploy the ramp.
  • Rear-entry: loads from behind, so it fits standard parking spaces and garages more easily. The wheelchair user typically rides in the middle or rear.

Our side vs. rear entry van guide covers the details.

Do you sell used wheelchair vans?

Yes. We carry pre-owned wheelchair accessible vans alongside new inventory. A quality used van can lower the cost of getting an accessible vehicle while still giving you a ramp or lift, lowered floor and securement system.

Can you order a wheelchair van that isn’t on your lot?

Yes. If we don’t have the vehicle, conversion or features you need in stock, we can special order it for you. Call us with what you’re looking for and we’ll walk you through options and timing.

Are there grants or veteran benefits that help pay for a wheelchair van?

Some buyers qualify for help through veteran benefits, state assistance programs or grants. Eligible veterans may be able to use VA automobile and adaptive equipment benefits toward an accessible vehicle or modifications.
